Very old heirloom from 1700s Connecticut. Popular from New York to Bermuda, and it brought much wealth to the onion growers of New England, as well as to the Yankee traders who sold shiploads of it. It is a slightly flattened, deep red onion of renowned quality. Sometimes called a storage onion since it can be harvested and kept for several months in a cool, dry pantry. Long day, 90-100 days
